First, you could see the Jinchuu of Enishi for his oneesan, Tomoe (Kenshin’s late wife), by kidnapping Kaoru and fought with Kenshin as atonement. Enishi thought that it’ll be perfect to kill Kaoru in front of Kenshin to make him feel the sorrow of losing someone he loved, and for the people he had killed when he was a hitokiri. But Kaoru knew that actually Enishi was very lonesome. When they fought, Kenshin knew that no matter how bad he explained his thoughts and even defeating him, Enishi won’t forgive him. So Kenshin let Enishi to kill him as atonement. But right when Enishi wanted to slash him, Kaoru ran to cover Kenshin, and Enishi saw her as his own late sister, Tomoe. Enishi somehow still didn’t understand why Tomoe protected Kenshin ( OVA #1 Act. 4) but he knew his sister wanted Kenshin to stay alive, so he left them two alone. Afterward, Kenshin and Kaoru visited Tomoe’s grave and there Kaoru promised that she will back up Kenshin with all of her abilities till death do them apart.

After giving his Sakabatou to Yahiko as genbuku present, Kenshin wandered around Japan once again to help the suffering people. Kenshin returned back home carrying an incurable disease (not mention the exact name) in his own body, and seeing her husband suffered so bad, Kaoru decided to feel her husband’s pain by infecting herself with the same disease. While Kaoru’s laid on bed, dying, Yahiko decided to pick up Kenji, who was at that time, in Kyoto. Kenji hated his father because he left Kaoru and him alone, so he ran to Kyoto and asked Hiko to teach him Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu, but as Hiko said “Hiten Mitsurugi will end with me”. Kenji rejected to return home because he thought he wasn’t the one his mom expected to go home, so Yahiko then challenged him for a fight. Though Kenji was finally lost, Yahiko gave the Sakabatou to Kenji, as genbuku present too, and they went back to Tokyo to see his mom whom he left for 13 years.

Kenshin, after drowning in the sea (see the 1st Half opening), was saved and carried to China. When Sano heard that Kenshin was in China, he went to find Kenshin. But he was shocked when he saw Kenshin was dying and worse, lost his memory. Sano suddenly remembered his old times when he still lived in Tokyo and shared moments with Kenshin, so he promised that he will not let Kenshin die and meet Kenshin again with his love, Kaoru. With his best effort, he helped Kenshin go back to Tokyo but unfortunately he couldn’t go with him because of things he should taken care of in China. When Kenshin was on the ship’s deck, sailing near Japan, he picked up a sakura petal and suddenly he remembered to Kaoru. Kenshin finally arrived at Yokohama, and with his remained strength, he walked home. God, seeing Kenshin walked hardly like that made me really wanna cry -_-.

In Tokyo, Megumi came back from Aizu to take care of Kaoru as soon as she received the news from Tsubame. Megumi knew that Kaoru suffered the same disease with Kenshin and it was incurable. Kaoru was very tough, no matter how bad was her disease, she still could smile, and Megumi knew that’s why Kenshin had chosen her. But one day Megumi couldn’t find Kaoru on her bed. Actually, Kaoru somehow had a feeling that her husband is coming home, so she went out to see Kenshin. When they met, Kaoru ran and hold him tight, Kenshin said slowly “Tadaima, Kaoru”and Kaoru replied dearly, “Okaerinasai… Shinta”. Then they sat down on the pastures, watched the sakura petals falling. Kaoru was so happy to see him back so she to him talked a lot, but when she saw Kenshin didn’t say a thing she knew Kenshin had passed away. Kenshin was laid on Kaoru’s lap, rested in peaceful endless sleep ~_~. What a touchy ending, I cried every time I think of it @_@. When you see the credit don’t miss to listen to the conversation between Kaoru and Kenshin for the last time (makes me cry harder). And also in the latest minutes, Kenji with a mysterious lil girl (dare da?) walking through the place where his father died and suddenly get startled. He said everything is fine and told his girlfriend “Let’s live happily together”.

It’s set in year 1894-1895 when Japan had war with China, Kenshin had married Kaoru and has a kid named Kenji, Yahiko had grown into a young man (real handsome dude!) and so did Tsubame. Kaoru had just back from the harbor, waiting for his husband to come home, but still she hadn’t meet him yet. However Kaoru believed that her husband will go home like always. After resigning from his title as swordsman, Kenshin stayed at home as normal husband with Kaoru and Kenji. But he couldn’t be idle seeing the people of his beloved country was suffering from war and diseases. So he ask Kaoru to let him follow his heart, once again, wander to help people. But every time Kenshin go back home he always look gloomy and sad, in case to ease his pain, Kaoru always smile at him no matter how tough it was. Unfortunately, Kaoru had a terrible disease which was incurable, the same with Kenshin. While she was dying she had dreams about her memorable moments with Kenshin, like when they first time met, the moment when Kenshin saved Kaoru fromJin’e (a cool fight!), Kenshin’s farewell when he went to Kyoto to defeat Shishio, and ended with Kaoru’s abduction by Yukishiro Enishi, plus some other minor romances you might’ve already seen in the series or manga.

What makes me a lil irked is that although the major stories were imitated from the manga but it’s slightly different (you’ll know if you’ve red the manga and watched this ova).Just like the previous OVAs, it’s damn serious so don’t hope you could see Kenshin says “Oro?” with his very unique face. In the end you can learn some important notes about Bakufu, Bakumatsu and Meiji Restoration that, I believe, all RK fans must’ve already known it best ^_^. That’s all, quite IRRITATING, ne?! However, if you want to complete your RK goodies then you have to buy it or download the fansub. I believe that this is not the end, maybe the 2nd part will be released soon. Yosh, I’ll bring it on as soon as I have it and I hope it’ll be MUCH BETTER than this or else… I’ll draw my Tetsusaiga and SLASH THEM ALL!!! ( ^^ Just bluffing…)

Kenshin in his fidgety following Tomoe to the a cottage in the mountain, along the way he got a sight when he killed Kiyosato, Tomoe’s fiancee. Kenshin’s heart was broken into pieces, he didn’t know what he supposed to do. It’s the same feeling as the night when they first time met. Kenshin somehow couldn’t and didn’t want to kill her, he had just found a love that he never felt before. But he had destroyed Tomoe’s first love and now he fell in love with her. On the way to the cottage, 3 ninja were waiting patiently. Kenshin, though was depressed, still capable to kill them all, but he was bloody wounded because of the battles. Meanwhile in the cottage, Tomoe was shocked to know that she had actually been tricked. For this such a long time, she was only being used to weaken Kenshin’s spirit and made him fell in a deep anguish because the women he loves had betrayed him. She tried to commit suicide but her kaiken was seized. At the meantime, Kenshin finally reached the cottage, it’s snowing heavily, a man had already waiting for him. Then the battle began, Kenshin was troubled to defeat him, he was beaten many times. Then the man pick up Tomoe’s kaiken and prepared to stab him, Kenshin collected his remained power and gave the final blow as a sight of Tomoe’s grave flashed. He opened his eyes and saw Tomoe standing in front of him, holding the kaiken to protect him but… she was bleeding hard as his sword sliced through her shoulder. Then they all fell to the ground, Kenshin put her on his lap and weep. Tomoe with her last strength slit Kenshin’s cheek over the wound made by her late fiancee and make a mark of cross, then she passed away. After saying his final thoughts, Kenshin burned the house with Tomoe in it. He returned to his former job as hitokiri, believed that it was the reason why Tomoe saved him, because he still had another battles. Day by day he passed to bring on the new era, killed anyone who stood in his way. The Ishin Shishi finally won the war and as what Kenshin had promised he will no longer kill. Then that’s the beginning of a resigned hitokiri as a rurouni Kenshin we all know today

This episode takes place at the end of the summer, Meiji Year 11. It had been half a year since Kenshin came to live at Kamiya Doujou. Kenshin and Kaoru went somewhere to visit a grave I don’t know where it is, but they used a boat to get there. Afterwards they went to the beach and got caught in the rain. They couldn’t go back to Tokyo because of the weather and stayed at a local’s home.

Yahiko were helping Tae for that day. He helped clean the tables and do various chores. And he wore an apron!!!! Sano were having his right hand checked by Megumi and stayed there to get a free lunch. But Megumi, foxy woman she is, made him cut firewood afterwards in order to get his dinner. While Sano was bathing, Megumi took his clothes and washed them, but she didn’t tell him what she had done, leaving Sano madly searching for them.

Kenshin and Kaoru slept in the same room, and Kaoru felt so distant from Kenshin although they had known each other for half a year. Kaoru had a nightmare that Kenshin left to become a Rurouni again. Waking up, she found Kenshin gone. She ran to the beach and found Kenshin there and fell into his arms. Kenshin gave her a seashell and when Kaoru’s hand touched his, there was a flashback from episodes before of the two of them, especially during the Kyoto Arc. Kenshin and Kaoru returned to Tokyo with the first boat, and nearing the port, they saw everyone from Dr. Genzai to Suzume-chan waiting for them on top of the bridge.

Horinaka Tadashi brought them to the Kan-ei temple and told them they could build a formation to replace the broken formation. He instructed them on how to make it, using various objects and a big dragon statue to be the Ryu formation’s heart. Kenshin Gumi had arrived at Senjo Gahara and Jinpu went to fight Reisui by himself. It was a battle of supernatural powers, where in the end Reisui lost but sacrificed himself in order to preserve the formation. Tsunan and Kawaji tried to tell the Daijokan members to cancel their meeting but it didn’t worked. So they devised a plan where Tsunan’s bombs would be used to damage the Genrou-In a bit and the people there would be force to evacuate themselves, helped by the police. The Hisui crest was at the hands of Saeki, who wished to use it for himself so he could rule the country. As Sano tried to attack him, he used it and a piramid-like building appeared from beneath the earth, Saeki standing on top of it.

To defeat Saeki, Kenshin poured the Musashino water on his sword and did a Do-Ryuu-Sen-like technique to send the energy spiralling up the stairs. It striked Saeki and he lost his grip on the crest. Sano threw the crest to Jinpu, who caught it and fell. As he fell, he used the crest to stop the Ryuu Myaku. The Ryuu Myaku passed the Ryu formation and was decreased, but it was still going on its course when the energy from the crest hit it and stop it.

The water from Musashino was given to Kaoru and once she showed signs of recovery, Kenshin and Jinpu set out immediately to Nikko to find the Water clan. Meanwhile, Tsunan and Sano were asked to find out where Ryuu Myaku would be diverted, where it would headed and when it would strike. Sano and Tsunan found out from one of Saeki’s employee that Saeki had asked him to find a book on the separation of religion and politics seven years ago.

They visited the author of the book, Horinaka Tadashi, who told them about Senjo Gahara, where a holy object that controlled natural forces were kept. He also told them about Youmei Mon, where the Hisui crest were kept. The Water clan destroyed another bulding, this time it was State Defense Department building. Just a moment after it was destroyed, several members of the Daijokan arrived and arrested Yamagata-kyo for using the Konoe division and seizing a civilian property without the Daijokan’s permission. Kenshin and Jinpu had arrived at Youmei Mon. Reisui found out they were there and attacked them by using a formation he had prepared before. During this attack, Kenshin met his decomposing-self and had to come to terms with himself to break away from the formation.

Sano came, riding a horse, telling them what he had found out. Kenshin, Sano and Jinpu set out towards Sanju Gahara to confront the Water clan. Tsunan and Kawaji were working together to figure out what they could do. Tsunan concluded that they should be able to stop it if the formation at Kan-ei tmeple still existed. That temple were burned down 11 years ago. At this time, Horinaka Tadashi appeared and told them that he wanted to help them.

Jinpu told Kenshin Gumi that Kaoru would die if they didn’t give her the water from Musashino’s Dragon Fountain. So Kenshin and Jinpu set out for Musashino to get it. Tsunan and Sano was charged with the task of finding the Water clan’s new formation and destroyed it. (Sugoi! You get to see fab Sano fights!) Saeki and the Water clan had disappeared from Tokyo. Their plan was to control the Ryuu Myaku; destroy the Superior Court, Police Dept, and destroy the Genrou whenre the Daijoukan would be meeting next week. Saeki had bribed the politicians to come to the Daijoukan, to ensured that they would be killed.

Kenshin and Jinpu arrived at the Musashino’s railroad building site and barged into the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, they found a dead end with a pentagram. Jinpu destroyed the pentagram and the Ryuu Myaku was released. Jinpu calmed it down but the tunnel was collapsing. Kenshin and Jinpu managed to geto ut, and was met by Yamagata, who had brought his Konoe division to halt the railroad building there. The Water clan by then had destroyed the Supreme Court and the Police Department, and their goal was to link the Ryuu Myaku who was heading northeast towards Nikko.

The Fusui master who helped them introduced himself as Jinpu, of the Yamato Fusui Wind clan. Tired of the Chief’s interest in the Fusui matter, Kawaji decided to leave the matter to him. The Chief visited the Doujou in hope to gather more information. Jinpu was there, explaining Kenshin Gumi about the competition between the Water and the Wind clan and that the Water clan was to destroy the existing Wind Eigou formation built by Tokugawa, and replaced it with their own.

Meanwhile, Tsukioka Tsunan was doing his own investigation. He found out that Saeki was building a railroad in Musashino, that Saeki was from China, and that his real name was Yuusui. The Chief succeeded in dragging Kawaji to the Doujou to listen to Jinpu’s story when Tsunan arrived telling them of what he had found out. Jinpu instantly knew that the railroad building was to get to the Ryuu Myaku, a main energy stream. The Water clan suddenly attacked the Doujou, wishing to destroy the seal on the well. While Kenshin was made helpless by Reissui, the leader of the Water clan, Kaoru attacked Reissui but was hurt by his Nyuja, or black, magic. They destroy the seal and left. Having destroyed the Eigou formation, the Water clan managed to make their first attack, destroying the Department of Industry’s building.

However, as soon as the man leaves a mysterious entrepenuer turns up to offer his services, such as warding stones inscribed with the power of feng shui. When the Akobeko catches fire from one of its stoves, Tae and Tsubame go to live at the Kamiya dojo, where they are attacked by feng shui fledglings following a visit from the entrepeneur, whose services Tae refused.

Recap:

The episode opens with a scene from 1602 where the Wind clan of Fusui masters fought to make a pentagram and fought the Water clan. The Water clan was defeated, went to china but promised to return one day.

Tokyo. 1877. A well had gone dry and a Fusui master appeared to tell them that a house had been bringing bad luck and need to be demolished. Tsukioka Tsunan went to that neighbourhood sometime later and heard about the house being demolished and a good luck stone was erected in its place. A businessman named Saeki had compensated the tenants of the house and bought it from them to erect the stone.

At the Kamiya Doujou, the well rose and the water turned dirty. After a few days, Tsunan came and told them about the story he had heard. A different Fusui master appeared and said there was an evil aura that caused the dirty water. He then left without doing anything. At the police station, the Police Commissioner, Kawaji, was busy handling the government officials corruption case. The Chief told him of the recent incidents in the city but Kawaji refused to listen. He was summoned by Yamagata, Head of the Defense Department and was warned of the Fusui. But he refused to investigate on them, because he wanted to use all the manpower to handle the corruption case, in which Saeki was one the prime suspect.

At the Akabeko, the first Fusui master appeared, saying there was an evil aura there too, in the kitchen. A fire burst from the stove, burning the Akabeko slightly. The Akabeko closed down for a few days to restore and Saeki came to made an offer to buy the Akabeko. He was driven away by Sano. He later came again but his offer was refused by Tae. Saeki left, and signaled several Fusui men to attack. Kenshin and Sano couldn’t fight those Fusui men, because they used their Fusui power. They were helped by the Fusui master who had come to the Doujou, who claimed that he was there to save the city.

At Kamiya Doujou, Yahiko was practicing with Misao and kept losing from her. The others asked Misao when she would be going back to Kyoto and Misao resovled to return right then. But they had a visitor and it turned out to be Ochira and Omasu, and they were with Aoshi-sama as well! Okina had told them to come to Tokyo to pick Misao up.

Recap:

The episode begins as Yahiko and Misao are sparring against each other, Misao having the upperhand. When Sanosuke asks Misao when she’s going back to Kyoto, Misao says that it doesn’t matter, because she’s a welcome guest in the dojo and that with her gone, Okina is probably scoping out all the girls in the city. Kenshin then mentions that Aoshi is probably worried about her, too. Misao immediatly decides to leave to go back home now, but is interrupted by the two female Oniwanban members, Ochika and Omasu, at the door with none other than Aoshi with them. Aoshi hands Misao a note from Okina, telling her to come back but buy him some doll-shaped pastries first. Misao assumes that Aoshi wasn’t worried at all, just following Okina’s orders, and runs into the dojo, screaming that she won’t go back. Later, as all of the women are sitting and trying to question Misao as to why she won’t return to Kyoto, Megumi figures it out and comments how childish it is that Misao won’t go back because the man that she’s in love with didn’t come just for her. After a retort from Misao (“I know that! I know that in Lord Aoshi’s eyes I am nothing BUT a child!”) Megumi responds that Aoshi isn’t the type to do something just because someone told him he had to. After an agreement from everyone else, Misao desides to go back, after going shopping in Asakusa (a popular area of Tokyo). Sanosuke and Yahiko, figuring that all the girls are going shopping just to eat away from all of the men, follow them, while Kenshin and Aoshi stay home. During the shopping trip, the girls run into Tae and Tsubame, from the Akabeko. They also run into some pick-pockets, the local Yakuza, and a whole lotta butt kicking. At the end of the day, however, they return with many gifts, and realize, after all their trouble, they forgot to buy Okina’s doll-shaped pastries.
This episode is extremely funny, and a must see for Aoshi/Misao fans out there.
